1997 – Cryosurgery of the liver and prostate (by Professor G. Onick, 10th World Congress of Cryosurgery)

1998 – Postgraduate course in Urology, I.I. Mechnikov North-Western State Medical University.

2005 – Postgraduate additional training in Cardiovascular surgery, S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy.

Experience:

Since 2011 Dr Prokhorov has been a leading researcher of the Department of General Oncology and Urology and an oncologist at the Head and Neck Surgery Department of the N.N. Petrov National Medical Research Center of Oncology.

He is Director of International Institute for Cryomedicine in Saint Petersburg.

From 1997 to 2000 he was Deputy Chief Physician for Surgery at the Saint Petersburg Clinical Hospital of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

He is Professor at the Surgery Department at the Faculty of Medicine of the St Petersburg University.

He is Professor at the Department of New Surgical Technologies at the Faculty of Medical Physics and Biological Engineering of the St Petersburg Polytechnic University.

From 1992 to 1997 he was Senior Instructor at the Department of General Surgery of the S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy and Head of the Purulent and Septic Surgery Division.

From 1986 to 1992 he was Teaching Assistant at the Department of General Surgery of the S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy.

From 1979 to 1992 he was Teaching Assistant at the Department of Operative Surgery (with Topographic Anatomy) of the S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy.

From 1976 to 1979 he was Adjunct Lecturer at the S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy.

From 1973 to 1976 he was Chief Medical Officer of Military Unit 30744 in Yerevan.

Main Personal Achievements:

In 2015 he developed the design of minimally invasive cryogenic equipment and promoted the introduction of the medical technology innovation into clinical practice.

In 2009 he was the president of the 15th World Congress of the International Society of Cryosurgery in Saint Petersburg.

In 2001 he organized the First International Symposium ACHIEVEMENTS IN CRYOMEDICINE in Russia.

He opened a specialized division of cryotherapy and cryo cosmetology in the Saint Petersburg Clinical Hospital of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2000.

He was the founder of the International Institute of Cryomedicine (2000).

He was the founder of the Saint Petersburg Cryosurgery Society (1999).

In 1997 he established a specialized center for cryotherapy of liver and prostate tumors at the Saint Petersburg Clinical Hospital of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Research Interests:

Development of New Methods of Cancer Treatment.

He is a member of a number of professional organizations:

Academic Association of Oncologists of Saint Petersburg.

Pirogov Society of Surgeons.

American Society of Cryosurgery (1999-2000).

Academy of Applied Medicine (2001-2006).

Dr Prokhorov is President of the Cryosurgery Society of Saint Petersburg.

Additionally he is Director of the Russian Division of the International Society of Cryosurgery.

Dr Prokhorov is also a board member of the International Society of Cryosurgery (2001-2011).

He was Honorary President of the 16th World Congress of Cryosurgery.
