American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO)
The American Society of Clinical Oncology is a not-for-profit educational and research organization covering all areas of oncology. It represents physicians of all oncology sub-specialties facilitating exchange of experience.
The main aim of the American Society of Clinical Oncology is to conquer cancer through research, education and promotion of the highest quality patient care.
ASCO’ mission:
- establishing a global network of oncology expertise;
- providing lifelong learning for oncology professionals;
- cancer research;
- improving the quality of oncology practice;
- educating and informing patients with cancer;
- translating achievements in science and technology into medical practice;
- holding the annual ASCO meeting (which lasts for five days and brings together more than 40,000 professionals);
- organizing meetings, education conferences, seminars for professionals and specialized round tables, including in emerging nations.
ASCO was founded in 1964 by a group of seven cancer physicians banded together with a single purpose to improve the care of people with cancer.
ASCO connects a global network of nearly 45,000 oncology professionals from 150 countries. ASCO offers various membership categories depending on the career stage and goals of a professional.
ASCO publishes a number of journals, books, and information newsletters, and provides an array of digital offerings.
