The European School of Oncology is a leader of post-graduate education of health professionals in the field of oncology. The European School of Oncology is a financially independent organization that unites together the efforts of the best European oncologists. It has provided educational services to thousands of specialists and has held more than 750 educational events (conferences, master classes, seminars and advance level courses).

The main aim of the European School of Oncology is to reduce deaths from cancer and improve the quality of life of cancer patients.

The European School of Oncology strives:

  • to improve the skills of all health professionals dealing with cancer patients;
  • to draw attention to rare tumors;
  • to transfer the knowledge in the field of clinical oncology from research centers to regional cancer centers all over the world;
  • to emphasize the importance of caring for patients in a holistic sense, from the moment a malignant tumor has been diagnosed;
  • The European School of Oncology offers oncology e-learning courses and sessions via e-ESO (www.e-ESO.net), a platform dedicated to providing distance learning material (weekly free on-line courses are held every Thursday at 20.15 Moscow time);
  • The European School of Oncology engages professionals in various areas of oncology from all over the world.

The European School of Oncology was founded by Umberto Veronesi, who was the inventor of quadrantectomy, a revolutionary method of surgical treatment of breast cancer, and Laudomia Del Drago in 1982.

Over the last 30 years the European School of Oncology has spread its focus on Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Middle East, the Mediterranean Region and South America.

ESO and The N.N. Petrov National Medical Research Center of Oncology

The physicians of the Center participate in the conferences organized by the European School of Oncology and undergo training programs at ESO specialized oncology centers in Europe.

As part of the White Nights Forum the European School of Oncology organizes sessions on various topics, such as treatment of lymphomas, breast cancer and lung cancer.

In 2019 the ESO session was devoted to current issues of treatment of gastrointestinal tumors.

The European School of Oncology has confirmed that starting from 2019 it is going to participate in the Science and Practice in Oncology Training (SPOT) project.
